The Color Critters® series was created and written by Adam Cummins (Adzy C.), beginning with How The World Got Its Color (2021) and followed by Blues Take a Vacation (2022). Both hardcover editions are available exclusively through this site and are no longer sold on Amazon, while e-book editions remain accessible on Kindle. The third installment in the rhyming series, The Color Critters and The Great Whiteout, is fully completed. Its publication was strategically paused in 2023 to avoid releasing new material while the undergoing animation development. The IP and an animation pitch based on the series was subsequently completed in 2025, marking Gnillac Publishing’s official expansion into animated media. With the pitch finalized and a production team in place, Gnillac Publishing is now actively seeking a network partner to bring The Color Critters universe to screen audiences.

Adam’s inspiration for creating The Color Critters® series grew from the cherished bedtime reading moments he shared with his sons. Years ago, he wrote and illustrated laminated story booklets—signed “By Dad”—as personal surprises for them. In 2019, while unpacking, he rediscovered those handmade stories, and the emotions tied to those early memories resurfaced. This rediscovery eventually led to the publication of How The World Got Its Color in hardcover.
Adam is currently an English teacher at Northeast High School in Clarksville, Tennessee, where he continues to share his passion for storytelling and literature with his students.
